Mardi Gras
(Fat Tuesday)

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

On February 2, 2002, The Mystic Krewe of Eno celebrates its second annual Mardi Gras Bal Masque at "The Big Barn" in Daniel Boone Plaza, Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Everyone is invited.

For $30 dollars, revelers enjoy a sumptuous array of cajun cooking meticulously prepared by Chef Ruddy Edwards and his dedicated staff.

Three entrees will be served - Couchon de Lait (Cajun-roasted Pig), crawfish etouffee and roast beef.  There will also be Lundi Gras "Red Beans with Verons Sausage." Luscious deserts will be furnished by Durham's Mad Hatter.

A free bar will serve quality beer and wine. There will also be bottles of champagne at each table.

Joe and Andrea Tullos - transplanted New Orleaners - insure the authenticity of our cuisine and accoutrements. (While awaiting Joe's next album, check out "Scoundrel's Waltz.")

Kick-out-the-jambs "sound" provided by Mystic Kreweman Mark Efland, owner-operator of "Mr. Regal Studio", 210 Efland Street, Efland, NC 27243. (919)732-4554. mfefland@visionent.org.

Last year's capacity crowd looks back on Mardi Gras Bal Masque I as Hillsborough's most festive occasion.

Master of Ceremonies, Alan Archibald, says "I never had so much fun, not even as a party-hearty hippy at the University of Toronto."  This year, Archibald's comic schtick builds on his repertoire of Steven Wright one-liners with "You may be a Yankee if..."

Join us and discover why the impetus for Mardi Gras - or Carne Vale (Carnaval) - has always been to say "Farewell to the Flesh."

Our exuberant celebration of "Fat Tuesday" is a fit prelude to Ash Wednesday and the subsequent rigors of Lent.

We hope you join us for Mardi Gras Bal Masque II.

The Mystic Krewe is pleased to announce the confidential selection of this year's "King" and "Queen" on January 13th. On February 2nd, last year's royal court will be joined by their successors (?!?) as guests of Mr. Matt Carroll at Tupelo's Restaurant in downtown Hillsborough. Starting at 5:00 P.M., their "highnesses" will toast the health of one and all, transfer crown and tiara, and then be borne by limousine to the Big Barn where "bon temps" festivities start at 6:15 P.M.
